Miriel, Numenor Princess, the only daughter of Palantir and Silwen, mother of Varaneli, ascended the throne in the year 3255 of the Second Age. Note, in the speech of the Numenoreans, also with the name of Ar-Zimraphel. A woman of great beauty and acute intelligence, she entered into a tormented sentimental relationship with Erfea, interrupted by her painful choice to marry her cousin and usurper Pharazon to the throne. Miriel perished in the sinking of Numenor.
